I am currently attempting to replace the thermal paste on an AMD r9 270 that has been not working correctly. I am not confident that I can get this card working again, but I am trying none the less. I've already sent this card back to MSI for RMA and received it back with some screws either missing or loose. I also noted that the technician never cleaned off the original paste. So I am replacing it myself with the high performance thermal compound kit by cooler master because it is cheap and ceramic. I am running into some issues though. The old paste was spread out everywhere, is krusty, and hard to remove. Before I plug in the card I want to know if the stock thermal paste is conductive, and is the paste I am replacing it with conductive. I can't seem to find anywhere that can answer any of these questions.

you should be alright. Even if it is conductive it would need to be touching a contact (were a component connects to the board) or an exposed trace (should be covered). all you can do is plug it in and hope it works
