Corsair H55 and X79 Sabertooth?

I just installed a corsair h55 in my old rig that has a i7 3820, x79 sabertooth, but am not sure where to connect the pump and fan?

I connected the pump to CPU_FAN, and the fan to CPU_OPT.

Should i connect it to something else? i have a y splitter that i could use.

The fan is really loud when i turn the computer on...

What should i do?

Thanks

Is it that bad? Thanks. I'll try and switch them round... Some people said to connect it the way I did it so I was confused...

Pretty sure the CPU_opt fan header gets its pwm signal from the cpu_fan header. If you use 3 pin fans it will most likely run at max rpm all the time

Ohh... Well according to the pics It doesn't look like it's running at max, unless the max is only 1400rpm. So what should I do? Anything else I need to buy? I just found out that the old cooler was pwm and had 4 pins. It also had an output from the pump to go to the fan...  Which was also pwm (4 pin)

Do you have fan control in the bios?  Set the pump to run at full speed and set a custom curve (probably user defined in the bios) for the fan.  It should still be able to control the fan speed even with 3 pin fans.

I'm not sure. It's quite an old board and I'm not really sure how to set a fan curve. I tried switching the profile to silent but it didn't do anything. There is an option for manual. But it's got some confusing options.

Look for Q-fan control in the bios. Mess around with it a bit and you should know the ins and outs in 5 to 10 mins

thanks.. i remember seeing that setting... ill mess about and see what i can do... otherwise ill switch this fan out for the old one which was pwm.
