Lmao I figured. I'm only questioning it now because I contacted Alienware Support and they said its a backup drive but it doesn't make sense to me that they wouldn't have an ssd for the boot drive

The moment I read this I dropped my cup of coffee. I recommend you just install the OS onto the SSD.

Im reinstalling windows 10 on my Alienware 17 and having trouble figuring out which drive to install it on. Alienware ships with 2 hard drives, one of them being an SSD. Then I'm at the screen to select which drive to install windows I'm not sure which one i should use. Drive 0 is 931GB and Drive 1 is 74.5. Did Alienware intend Drive 1(SSD) being the drive to install windows on or is it just there to create a backup drive? Which drive do you guys think Alienware uses as the OS drive? Thanks

it seems like simply a partitioned single SSD

go into "create and format hard disk partitions" and see if the two drives are phsycially one.

They obviously use the SSD as the boot drive. If they put your OS on an HDD please return your fucking laptop to them and call them retards.

I deleted all partitions. They are 2 separate drives. Both Unallocated space

then put it on the SSD. pretty obvious.

i think they meant backup drive as in a place to store images / non-OS files

They said that it should be installed on the non ssd and the ssd is the backup drive. They didn't seem like they really knew the answer though, the SSD is the 74.5Gb drive

After I install on the SSD do i have to format Drive 0 in the OS to use it, or is it good to go once windows is installed? I never messed around with 2 hard drives lol
