So I plan on building my parents a new PC as their aging Gateway, while still in great shape and we have never had a problem with it, has reached 10 years old and is slowing down, not to mention Vista got it to the grave even sooner, so this is my final revision of the PC I plan to build them and yes I know PSU PSU PSU blah blah blah, I get it, it's a cheap PSU but for the money it's about the best out there, so here you go

This is surely not a bad build and it'll defintly do the job, but I wonder if a simple drive swap from which I guess is a old harddrive in that system to a new SSD wouldn't be already enough to do the trick.

I swapped the HDD of my mom's old Laptop to a SSD and that worked really well, without upgrading any of the other components and it saved me a ton of money compared to buying a new Laptop.

So I would definitly give that a try first. If you're then still not satisfied with the performance, then you can still do a whole new build :)

It could work but the PC specs are too low to support Win10, Windows Vista support has ended and my parents are already having trouble doing the basic things they need since support for vista on most things has dropped off, and Windows 7 is going to be losing support in the near future and things would not be much of an upgrade, now don't get me wrong a new SSD would help as it takes about 4-5 Min for the PC to boot up, and it's still not usable at that point, but with all that and the hardware that's in it, since it was a cheap PC when they bought it, I feel in my option to just build them a new PC that we can add to 5-6 years down the line

Yeah, I know, but my budget for this was $400 and also just the fact I hate corsair and have never had a good product from them so I'll stick with Antec

Sure you can't go lower on the PSU? 450watts is overkill.

Like I said, Vista was an awful OS to begin with, and now Microsoft ended support and so did many other company's, and My parent's can't even do simple things like paying their bills or playing flash games anymore as everything has stopped supporting Vista

Vista actually wasnt that bad. Its required specs were just lower than they should have been. There were also driver issues, but if vista machines didnt ship with 512mb of ram, then vista wouldnt have gotten nearly as bad a reputation as it did.

I don't know, I get it everyone has an their preferences on what they like, but I just really hated Vista, it was always so sluggish and was just packed full of junk, now don't get me wrong it gave us some great features but overall I just feel it was an awful OS, still better then Windows 8/8.1 though xD
