Hey there, folks! I'm rather new to the forums here, but I have been a subscriber/viewer of LTT for quite some time.

I'll cut to the chase; the PC I currently have isn't really up to snuff compared to more modern builds and I'm looking to start afresh from the ground up!

Now my knowledge of seperate componants is rather limited, in that I don't know what exactly all the numbers, cores and (pardon the phrasing) more nerdier details mean. I can point to a processor and tell you what it is/does, and that's about it! So off the bat, overclocking is not something that is required for this build.

On to the list!

1.: Location and Budget

Location is in the UK, and my budget is £800, but can strech up to £1000.

2.: Aim

Gaming! Mostly used for MMO-RPG's such as World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14, though I would like to be able to run demanding titles like The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 on high/ultra setting without suffering too much FPS loss. If I can get a solid 60, I'd be happy.

3.: Monitors

Not really a requirement as I'm not currently looking to replace monitors, though I am more than happy to take some recommendations!

4.: Peripherals
Looking to upgrade/replace my current mouse, though not really a priority. Something comfortable with 5 buttons (I rely heavily on the thumb buttons). Things such as OS and AV software are not needed, as I plan to move my current hard drives and OS into the new PC build.

5.: Why am I upgrading?
Frankly, my PC is getting on in its years. It's parts that I looked at several years ago (2012-2013) and thought "Hey, that must be good, I'll chuck that in!". I'm looking for something more mordern, more with current generation componants and something that'll last the forseeable future (Ideally 3-5 years, as I'm not an ethusiast).

6.: Current Specs

Taken from Speccy.

OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

CPU: Inten Core i5 4430 @ 3.00GHz

RAM: 16GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance @ 1600Mhz

Motherboard: ASRock z97 Pro3

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 (Gigabyte)

Storage: 128 SanDisk SSD, 480GB SSD (Forgot the name/brand), 1TB WD HDD, 1TB Hitatchi HDD

And this concludes the post! Weather it's a DIY build or a pre-built PC, I'll happily consider any and all recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

I'd probably say just get a 4790k for the CPU and then something like a 1070 for the GPU. BTW what monitor do you have rn?

Isn't a 1080 ti like way out of the budget?

Really? But isn't a 4790k another 250-300? It'd be stretching the budget to get one.

They work well for now, though the Acer monitor is reaching it's 10th year mark. If you have any suggestions or recommendations for new monitors, I'd be happy to hear them. Every little helps!

I'm not looking for anything massively overkill, mind you. It'd be just for gaming purposes only, I've no plans for streaming or video recording/editing any time soon.

4790k is not a good cpu for streaming, a 1070 + 4790k would do fine

This one possibly, though getting it would limit the rest of the upgrade options.

It would leave only 600 max for the rest but it'd be a nice monitor.

This 1070 is 350, if you could get a 4790k used or new for 250 that would be awesome.

a bit but a 4790k+ 1080ti makes a good combo.

Definitely stretching it tho, and considering his monitors it wouldn't be ideal...

Going just over the budget isn't too much of an issue.

I appreciate the help so far, and the parts listed will definately be considered.

A few quick questions though; What would be a priority to purchase first, or is that more a personal preference thing? So far only suggestions for CPU/GPU have been made, does that mean the rest of the specs I have are holding up well enough not to replace them?

I apologise if any question sounds noobish, i'm not 100% tech savvy x'D

The PSU I have is a Corsair CSM 750W Semi Modular 80+ Gold, though that also may need replacing as the fan makes a strange noise on the rare occasion.
