Hey, so I'm looking for some advice on what I should do. By the end of this week I'll have enough to spare to get about a 60GB - 120GB SSD, my issue is that I'd like to keep everything the way it currently is, but I have a 240GB C drive which is full.

I've heard that using an SSD as cache and such is, a solution, but I'm unsure as to if I can do that with just any old SSD, or what sort of performance boost I'd get.

Should I wait a month or so and get say, an 840 EVO, or is there a way I can use a smaller SSD for now for a performance boost and get a better SSD.

Just get a decent 120GB ssd and it'll be plenty for your os and programs. It's much faster than any ssd cache.

I guess, maybe if I uninstall some games and such, my program files add up to 100GB somehow xD I'm kind of bad and like to just store a lot of files on my desktop since it's easier for me to get to them, that's one of the main reasons (Besides not wanting to have to reinstall everything all over again) that I don't want to use a drive smaller than what I already use.

Reinstalling everything on the ssd won't take long.

Also, I'm pretty sure it should be less than 100GB unless you are a program hog. You proabably just need to be a bit more efficient and route your documents/pictures/etc to the hdd. I only use 90GB and I have many large Adobe and Autodesk programs.

Hmm, I guess I might do that, It'd be a bit annoying having to go through and put stuff on a drive that isn't my primary >.< but, I dunno.

It's just like organizing folders. Doesn't take long getting used to.

I went the cache route and bought a cheap 32gb SSD. It works fine. I have a 2T hard drive, and with a Pro Office install (the one with Access) and a few others (some work stuff plus R and MapInfo), there is no way I could do a 120. I have 600gb on there now. The cache is fine. I probably would do 60gb right now if starting again. Once I can get a terabyte for under $500 I will go that route, but I hate the idea of a boot drive. I actually tried it with a 90gb and It drove me crazy. I hate worrying about what downloads to my c drive.
