Well, the Hyper 212 EVO isn't available here anymore . -_-

I'm left with the 212 X or the 212 LED.

I'm guessing the X performs better.

Am I right?

(I really don't case about LEDs here)

buy any. they perform the same

The 212 Led is basically the Evo with lights.

So I have an i5-6500 with the stock cooler. Idle temps are around 45°C and while under load it hits 75°C - 80°C.

I'm a bit worried as on Intel's website it says : "Maximum temperature allowed at the processor Integrated Heat Spreader : 71°C "

Should I buy an aftermarket cooler? Like the Hyper 212EVO? (If yes, will this fit on my socket?)

Thanks!

yeah I would, and it will fit your socket, I've got a 212x and that is cool and runs quiet

71c refers to the IHS. Core temps will be higher. Your temps are fine.

Yes, you're fine up to 80-90c at load.
