Hey all! A few months back I built my fourth rig. The old modular PSU I tried out with it that I had lying around turned out to be a dud, so I ordered a new EVGA one from amazon and had it delivered via the 30 minute "save your fuck up" shipping option.

My question is the other day I stumbled upon a post where a guy used cables from one modular psu with another and it fucked his rig entirely. My PC has been working fine so I assume I didn't get any confused, but thinking back I very well could've gotten some of the EVGA cables confused with the seasonic cables. Where can I get more info on the risks involved with mixing cables? Hell, how can I even figure out which cables came with which power supply? (only some of the EVGA ones are branded...)

This seems like way too easy of a mistake to make if it's true that this can cause a detrimental failure.

Keep them organised for a start. It may not even fit if you try to insert it in your PSU as it is keyed (Also sleeving and colour differences of cablesect).

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

AFAIK the most obvious reason that this mistake would kill a PC is if the pin outs on the power supply are different (e.g. it's sending the wrong voltage to the wrong pins) and with you saying that the PC is running fine, it's fairly likely that you're all good :)

I will only ever answer to the best of my ability - there is absolutely no promises that I will be correct. Or helpful. At all.
