Software Raid

Go to solution Solved by brwainer,

"Software RAID" meaning that you set something up in Disk Management should be avoided - it works, but barely.

Storage Spaces, on the other hand, is very good, it can be compared to ZFS (there are differences, and it isn't quite as good as ZFS, but its close). As long as you don't set up a "Simple" storage space, which is akin to RAID0, Storage Spaces  is very good and I have no issue using it in both my servers (Server2012R2, Server2016) and Desktops (Windows 10 Pro).

Hey, guys I currently have a Windows 10 machine with an SSD is the main boot drive and two 1 TB WD blues. This setup has worked for a while but I am currently running low on storage. I have four more one terabyte WD Blacks. I want to add them but with my current system that would mean adding two more backup and two more server network hard drives. I am using free file sync to clone the server drive to a backup drive and update it every six hours. I would love to make this simpler with the drive pool one for server and one for backup but I have no idea where to start. I'm thinking about software RAID but again I have no experience with this. If anybody is willing to help me learn this, I would greatly appreciate it as I'm kind of lost. Also if anybody has Skype or discord that would be even better as communicating by text and explaining all of this would be difficult. Sorry for the long post, thank you in advance. ^^

Looking to buy GTX690, other multi-GPU cards, or single-slot graphics cards:

this is the only thing I miss moving to ubuntu. It's actually great being able to make raids super easy and able to more them between windows machines.

yea, windows software RAID is limited in more ways than i could list

storage spaces is good, but again limited, third party software RAID are a option, but they require custom drivers and things like updating the software stops you from accessing the RAID until the update is complete

****SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH IT'S REALLY TERRIBLE*****

Been married to my wife for 3 years now! Yay!
