Back up Question

Does moving files in different partition counted as back up? We have a stupid senior manager he said that he moves the file of the user to the different partition in order to back up the user's files.

By moving the files on a different partition would not be counted as a back up, simply because if you move the files it means you delete from the partition they were and place them on another partition without having a copy of them. By copying the files you could do a backup. In this way you'll have the files twice on different partitions with the possibility of replacing a damaged file with the copy of it from the second partition.

Technically, yes.  But this isn't really a FULL backup.  To have a proper full backup it should be on a separate drive in a separate place.

Well putting them anywhere on the same drive to me isn't a backup.

Say that the drive crashes.. then there's no backup. To backup, make a recovery point and save it on another internal/external drive.

So if you have a piece of paper and you move it from your room to bathroom you have a backup to that paper right? One that could be damaged and one that's the real one.
