How much dose response times actually affect monitors? e.g. 1ms vs 5ms

For one, there's no real standard way to measure response times. For another, 4ms is practically imperceptible to people anyway.

Its a way companies get you to buy "gaming monitors", trust me 4ms will not make a difference on any competitive game

response time .......is generally refered to as a pixel change time

while

input lag .....is the time taken to recode ur signal for your screen by monitor
