Hey guys,

I currently have a Coolermaster Storm Stryker case which i loved and still kinda do, sadly i begins to show it's age. one option was to mod it some more, especially a PSU cover, but I reallt want to just get a new case. after looking for a long time online I really liked the Parvum System L1.0, but for €400,- I wasn't sold on that. I ticks all my boxes but I don't really like the pricetag. So since i have a 3D printer and a CNC router i want to build a case myself.

So i've been planning my new case for a while now, and his is what i have come up with.

The construction is based on 45x45 aluminium profiles covered with acryllic panels, I managed to find a retailer which sells covered aluminium profiles. this gives the outside a much cleaner look.

now I need your advice on my current design. I am affraid that the curved sides make i look too much like a hexgear case.

Also if you have any further suggestions please let me know.

I took a look at the  Parvum System L1.0 that ticked your boxes, and at your current case Cooler Master Storm Stryker. Then at your Design. All three look more or less undesirably to me, but since I am not of those guys that comes in and drops a negative comment, here is what I thought: There is no way that you will come out cheaper than just spending 400 bucks on the Parvum Case compared to making a case from scratch yourself, when considering material and time (even at 10 bucks an hour and assuming you are very skilled in that field allready). I just don't see it happening cheaper. If you are in for the fun of it, then by all means go ahead, who am I to judge. But from a financially viewpoint this doesn't seem to make much sense.

Concerning your cases design: I personally don't like that much, but I am one of those minimalist guys with a Define R5 case. Maybe add a handel on each side in the top curved aluminium side beams:

I rather like your design. It's fancy enough to be interesting without being completely gaudy. If you want it go for it go for it. It sounds like you have the resources to pull it off well. It's probably not cost effective if you consider labor but you can say the same about rgb lights and pretty builds and overclocking. And it's probably more enjoyable and rewarding than working the extra hours.

The curved edges help balence out the other more angular elements of the case. The main side panel you might consider reworking a bit. I would also consider changing the side panel vent angle to the other diagnol so that they draw ones eye twords your hardware as opposed to the front of the case. And decreasing the size of the bar that seperates the vents and clear panel. It looks excessively thick at the moment.

And for the love of the moon change your front to default so us night users can see the text. @pimiboj@ItsTheDuckAgain

@Dutch-stoner Yeah I realised I forgot to mention that. so what I wanted was the separated bottom compartment like the 900d or sma8, extensive watercooling support. not to g4m3r style.

@ItsTheDuckAgain Thanks for your input, I know this doesn't appeal to everyone. Also for the cost effectiveness, Materials only I will be able to get for under €200 (aluminium ~70 and ~90 for the acrylic that leaves me with 40 for screws which seems reasonable to me). Of course including labour this will end up much more expensive than that, but since this is a hobby for me I care about that. Since I have a CNC Router all the panels can be cut automatically, saving me a lot of time.

@KazerTheKeen You're right i copied it from another sub forum. Should be fixed now? For the side panel, you mean basically flipping it right? that would work, and I agree with you on that. The mid bar is indeed much thicker than needed, that was because I wanted to make it all out of 45mmx45mm aluminium, but I might change these bars to 20mmx20mm because that is indeed wasted space.
