I've been mostly messing around with it for funsies, but the idea of picking up a 2.4GHz Pentium 4M and a new battery for it seems appealing. I'd be looking at about $30, plus I'd have to buy an upgraded CPU fan to keep up with the beefier chip, no idea yet what that would cost. I've already spent $10 on 2GB of DDR PC2700, and it's given the system enough of a kick to handle Windows 7 Pro. I know I'll never get my money back selling it, but I'm wondering: would this be a fun upgrade project that turns into a useful little ancient piece of space station equipment, or should I be looking at a different ThinkPad for that?

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

i wish i never threw away my old thinkpad. they are great machines for running linux. I dont know if you could get windows 7 drivers for hardware that predates windows 7 by 7 years.

Have a look for a complete kit with docking station.

Be careful with batteries. I bought a chinese one and it didnt work.
