That sounds terrible. 

 

@kurtstir go with an R7 1700 instead. You can also probably go with cheaper RAM, higher clocked ram is just overclocked -- and you can just do that yourself, but you want to make sure to get is Samsung B-die kits.

You sacrifice some overclocking ability but you get a 1080 ti.

 

Whether it's worth it is up to you.

Gigabyte cards are bad when you see mine I just slightly removed the m.2 and added an 1080ti playing with overclocking is dangerous

You went over his budget though, and in my opinion an ssd and 1080 is better then 1080 ti but no ssd.

Amazing performance hmm getting an ssd will not get you Amazing performance like rendering data faster plus an 1080ti can make you play VR at its best and you will be upgrade free till 6 to 7 yrs for the GPU

im doing great on a 960m so personally I don't need a crazy gpu

Go for the m.2 and 1080, everything will be a lot faster than with just a HDD. The only thing you would need a 1080Ti for is 4k gaming as well as VR (and even then the 1080 is probably good enough)

 

Of course, if you can, I would wait a bit and get both, but if not, get the m.2
