So yesterday, I tried to download a game on the windows store and in order for me to download it, I needed to switch my PC account to a microsoft account. So that's what I did and now when I boot my computer, I have to log onto my microsoft account and enter my password to get to my desktop. it's really annoying and I want know if I can switch back to a normal account or if I can just remove the lock screen in general and just boot to desktop directly?

Thanks for any help

  • Open Settings > Accounts and click Your info.
  • After confirming that the account is set up to use a Microsoft account, click Sign in with a local account instead.
  • Enter the password for your Microsoft account to confirm that you're authorized to make the change, and then click Next.
  • On the Switch To A Local Account page, enter your new local user name and password, along with a password hint, as shown here.
  • Click Next to sign out from the Microsoft account and sign back in using your new local account.

When I boot now, will it go directly to desktop?

Thanks!

Instead of doing this... and redo it for every app or content purchased through the store, each time, how about enabling auto-login?

Start, type > netplwiz, and pick the result that will show up. A panel will open, in it uncheck the box to ask for user name and password when you login. :) Done!

That simple.

Then to not have the password when your computer wakes up from sleep:

Start > Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options, and pick "Never" in the drop list at the top under "Require sign-in".

Now you are really done!

Enjoy!
