RX470 165hz DisplayPort flickering

hi so i finualy recieved my xfx rx470 rs and i cant seem to run it at 165hz without the screen flickering on and off a few times per minute. ive done some research and found it is a bug with the rx series but i cant seem to find a fix that work, if i run with hmdi its fine but then its only 60 hz, or if i switch it to 60hz on display port its fine. ive been reccomended 120hz but doest even work with that.

 

ive installed latest drivers and tried older drivers. ive done ddu twice. any other suggestions perferrably not rma..

 

Specs;

xfx rx470 rs 4gb

phenom II x4 940

windows 10

asus rog swift 165hz model

Why are you running an ROG swift with a 470 in the first place...

If you look at their setup they have a 980 Ti SLI computer so they're probably just testing the 470 there

And if he didn't have that I would still want to know why. Just curious given the large price difference.

Perhaps it may be good to ask in the ASUS forum, they should have one and you should be in contact with technical people there. That said ASUS is known for terrible customer service so good luck.

 

It might be worth it to contact XFX and see if they know something also.

ok will go try there. im pretty sure its not the monitor or cable because they work fine on my other pc. thanks

Sounds like the RX 470 had something go bad with it. That or somehow there's no support but AFAIK RX 470s should have the correct DP revision for 1440p 165hz (or at least 144 which you should be able to set your monitor at)

right ive tried turning of the monitor overclocking and run at 144hz and 120hz but both still flickered also tried running in 120/144hz with the screen in overclock mode and still didnt help. ill ask around on asus forums then probably just get in contact with xfx and see what they say and rma it maybe. thanks for the help anyways, at this point im thinking theres something wrong with it.

Agreed I think that RX 470 might have an issue with that displayport connector.

yea and i did try all three ports also and each one does the same thing
