New build help wanted

Go to solution Solved by Verrm,

Get AIO cooler for your cpu and OC it. Buy a 1070 gpu and keep it on stock clocks. For money saved you can consider switching one of your monitors for 1080p/ 120hz or 144hz/ with g-sync. Maybe even an ultrawide monitor. Your experience will be crazy good!

Well here goes, first time every doing a post like this, but I'm trying to upgrade from my z87 build, to a z270. My original plan wasn't to spend more than $1000, but now I'm thinking that's impossible and looking no more than $1300

Current PC is

Windows 7

Seasonic 750w PSU

MSI z87-g45

I5 4670k

Coolermaster cpu aftermarket cooler

16gb ddr3 @2133mhz

AMD Radeon sapphire 7970

250gb samsung 840 evo ssd

1tb WD black

2 asus monitors that are 1080 and 60hz

What I'm looking upgrading / adding

Either the asus z270 H, E, or F, but I feel silly because I kinda just want it for the stupid colors, I mainly just want a solid board that has potential of OC, and can handle two 1070's.

Next is obviously I was going to add a 1070, possibly 2 down the road. Also was considering the asus one to match the board for lighting.

I was going to add in the samsung 960 evo 500gb m.2 ssd to put all my games on.

I was planning on sticking to the i5 7600k as well because I really only use my PC for gaming, and feel like an i7 might be a bit overkill.

I was also considering upgrading to Windows 10

And didn't even think about the ram until I wrote all this out ...... So 16gb of ddr4

I was planning on keeping my PSU, tower, the 250 ssd for my OS, and the CPU cooler.

So questions here are

Is the ROG STRIX motherboards worth the 60 dollars more than their prime little bothers?

Is the aura sync worth it?

How much faster is the M.2 ssd over a normal ssd in real time? (like actual load times was hard for me to find for comparisons I think I found a video on it)

And the 1070 i am going to get is going to be based on the mother board. Either one with the RGB or a cheaper version were I'm not paying for fancy colors and flashing lights.

not worth buying a brand new CPU yet, you only really need a new graphics card and put your games on the HDD for storage, move those you play over to your 250gb ssd. to me your setup is fine, i would'nt spend a dime yet other than for the GPU.

unless you like to buy a new computer to replace a previous one that's only like 20-30% slower than the new one... i'd call it a waste but it's not my money, some people like to waste their hard earned cash so what can i say.

Wow thanks everyone, I figured being so old and 3 or 4 generations of new gear would have given more of an increase in performance. I also haven't messed around with any OC on my gpu or cpu yet so maybe I'll try that out and if I get it than upgrade lol.
