CAD Software

Hey Everyone, I am going to be building my uncle a new computer soon for my uncle and he wants to start getting in to CAD work. I don't know anything about CAD software so can someone please recommend the best cheapest one that he could use. Thanks

He wants to design houses.

Most common cad software suites set you back a couple thousand bucks, including catia, solidworks, inventor etc.

is he an architect or just for fun?

If he wants to design just for fun, he can also use common 3D software like blender, sketchup or what else there is on the 3D modeling market.

Specific CAD software for archtictural purposes is not my list I'm just an engineering student

i am an architect. and CAD workflow dont need much horse power as in rendering the final result.

i5 cpu handels any CAD software workflow

RAM: you need a lot of ram for huge 3d models and files so 16GB will be the go to

The SSD is a must here cuz of the software constantly reading and writing data in the drives = it goes with the workflow the faster your storage is the smoother you will work

GPU : the GPU is used to display the 3d models and to render in the case you use a GPU renderer like IRAY/ mental ray / Vray RT etc so a GTX 970 would work flawlessly.
