The Cyborg RAT 7 uses a Philips Twin-Eye laser sensor which is by far the worst sensor out there. Even Razer has had customers complaining about their mice all because of the stupid sensor jumping all over the place. I'd stick with Avago sensors if I were you. The Corsair M65 is a very good choice. I'd also recommend a Zowie (AM, EC1, EC2) for FPS. I'm personally using an old $10 discontinued mouse, the A4Tech X-710BH which uses an Avago ADNS-3060 optical sensor.

For FPS Steelseries Kinzu as mentioned above or Steelseries Sensei if you don't mind spending a few more $$$ they have better lasers than most other mouses and are very reasonably priced for the level of performance you get.
i like the look of the SteelSeries Sensei and the specs are good

You wont go wrong with it for FPS games mate, it performs superbly and IMHO i would "guess" its laser is second to none. judging by all the other mouses I've seen floating around. I personally have the Sensei and i absolutely love it. There is also the Senei Major League Gaming edition which steps it up a notch again.

I am really wondering how bad the sensor is on my rat 7 now , since its the first decent mouse I've brought - before that it was $20 logitech mice, I chose the rat 7 as it was the only one i could find with adjustments

Its all about those volumetric clouds

I would get the M60 or the M65. Been using the M60 and it is pretty good. I like the features of the sniper button and the software that is provided for mouse configuration.
