Maybe. Highest I've seen personally is a 16gb stick of DDR4, but if anything higher exists I wouldn't know about it.

No, my friend just asked me to help him with a rig, and i don't understand why he wants one 64 go stick of ram, he said he doesn't want latency or something like that

Tell him it'll run him up about the price of a nice 1440p gaming machine. He could get a 1080 Ti for less than one 64GB stick of RAM, and that would probably help him more than the unnoticeable difference in latency he might get from one stick. Though I though more sticks were better, kind of like RAID 0 for HDDs?

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

Good question. The higher your DIMM's capacity, the harder they are to overclock. This is true both for manual overclocks, and XMP compatibility. The reason being: the more DRAM IC's (the little tiny nand chips on each dimm) you have, the more difficult it is to get each and every one of them to run your desired clock speed. Lets say you have a 16GB stick, which happens to have 16 1GB DRAM modules on it. Let's say 15 of those modules can hit 3200mhz, but the 16th can only hit 3000. This means you are limited to 3000mhz, because one of those DRAM modules are simply unstable. Now, this is just an example of sticks being unstable due to physical characteristics of the DIMMs. The next issue, is due to your IMC, and the way it handles multi-DPC configurations (DIMMS Per Channel).

 

The more DPC you have, the harder it is on your IMC. This is one of the biggest reasons X99 platforms have the most trouble achieving the same memory speeds that you see Z170/Z270 do with ease. Technically speaking, running quad channel with 1DPC (4 DIMM's, 1 DIMM per channel) would be the best way to achieve the highest possible bandwidth on X99, as it would allow you to have access to quad channel, while reducing stress off the IMC. Next, you have to make the conscious decision involving capacity vs speed. With quad channel, your raw bandwidth is going to be insanely fast anyways, so raw frequency is less important. I'd focus entirely on latency, as the more channels you add, the more overall latency suffers. So buying large-DIMM sticks that don't necessarily OC high, isn't exactly a bad thing due to the nature of quad channel, but buying slow sticks with awful latency will actually cause you to suffer a harsher penalty in terms of overall performance. In this scenario, I'd use binned sticks (XMP sticks that are guaranteed for a specific frequency) and underclock them while also tightening their timings as much as physically possible. That way, you can remove the IC quality out of the equation, and focus entirely on board trace topology quality, and IMC quality.

 

Broadwell-E has shown an overall superior IMC than Haswell-E, so if memory overclocking is important to you, I'd recommend doing so on Broadwell-E on X99. Hope this random wall of text helps.

Wouldn't that issue be dependent on the total amount of RAM and not the density of it?
