Upgrading CPU, Mobo Advice needed

Hey gents, been a little while. I recently obtained an EVGA GTX 970 FTW used from a buddy for a great price, however my i5 760 is really starting to show it's age.  After some deliberation, I decided going with the 7600K would probably be the best path for me, which will require a new Mobo, as well DDR4 RAM.  

 

I could really use some advice on the motherboard front, as half the comparisons out there make motherboards look identical.  I plan to place an M.2 SSD in this build, so support for M.2 is important to me. The upgrade I'm looking at right now is: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fFvQ9W

I'd like to keep it under $200, but I'm not on a hardline budget, I just want a reasonable board.  I do Overclock, in case that is relevant.

I don't know if you're going for a certain coloured build but I can recommend the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard. On the cheaper side and yet has everything you asked for. Problem would be red and black theme.

I have a closed case at the moment. Define S, no window.

He is getting an 7600K.   that mobo wouldn't work unless he has an skylake chip to flash the bios

Haha completely forgot that. Wondering why you can still not boot a board without CPU. By now we should be that far.

Some Asus boards actually has that feature if I'm not mistaken

I know my old one had some sort of OS in the BIOS but I am not sure if it works without a CPU. Think this was just for browsing the net without an OS or bootdrive.

I appreciate the diligence finding that! However, at this time I am not planning on replacing my case.  I got the Define S to be quiet, and it has a foam inset along the side panel, so no possibility for a window! I may in the future replace the case though, and at that point I'll consider a prettier board

Oh wait... I'm thinking on their bios flashback feature. It allows bios updates without the need for a CPU. Not sure it actually lets you boot into the bios without cpu

Well since you're using a K series processor a Z chipset board would make the most use of the processor itself where you can OC the CPU and RAM. I've always gone for ASUS motherboards and I'm currently looking at the ASUS ROG Maximus IX Hero click me! but be warned it is $20 over your budget and only has one USB 2.0 header on it.

 

Z270 boards love RGB lighting and each company has their own take on them and where the LED's are located. Gigabyte went a little crazy with the RGB (IMO) NO, click me!
