I just don't know if a surge protector is worth it so I just want to get a consensus.

Have you actually had a surge protector flip a circuit breaker instead of frying your computer or a similar experience?

Or

Have your computer/other electronic been fried due to overvoltage?

What are your personal thoughts is it worth it at 10 bucks?

Yes I have seen LTT's video on the subject I just don't know if a surge protector is worth it I may just end up getting it but with me already having two power strips already I just don't know if is it worth the hassle to switch out.

Yes surge protectors should be on every electronic device you have, they are designed to absorb large spikes or fluctuation in voltage to prevent the devices themselves from damage. It's the bare minimum and first line of defense for protecting your hardware, a circuit breaker is solely for current flow and to cut off if it is exceeded or there is an arc or sorts within the electrical system.

Better to have protection and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I've never had a breaker or fuse go in my apartment, nor my old house. When I lived in a shared flat the kitchen would sometimes lose power, because of an oven, kettle, vacuum and TV running at once but that's all.

You should be using one, but it becomes extremely important in a house over about 10-15 years old, or where you know the wiring is less than perfect.

I might recommend spending a little more than 10 bucks. Guess it comes down to what would you rather do. Spend a small amount of cash for a decent surge protector, or replace several hundred or even thousands of dollars in the event of a failure. Sure nothing may ever happen. But, I'll take the piece of mind.
