DIY Build is Not Posting

Will Webster

I have only the motherboard, RAM, PSU, and CPU connected.

An ASUS Z270E motherboard, two 8 gig sticks of G.Skill Trident Z RGB RAM (3000), Core i7 7700K, and a Rosewill 550W Photon PSU.  I can't get it to post.

I checked with the motherboard manual and the two RAM sticks are in the appropriate DIM slots, but the RGB is not lighting up.

The Motherboard power LED is on as well as the on board RGB.

Any idea what the issue might be?

Thank you

Will

you put that much muney in the system and bought that shit PSU?! mate ...

you seem to be lacking a CPU fan, mobos are most likely not to boot without it

It makes me worried that there isn't a CPU heatsink in that photo. >.>

it doesn't really matter, CPUs nowadays have serious protection and will throttle instantly

try with one ram stick connected and double check to make sure everything is connected properly

though maybe asus implemented that there needs to be a cpu fan connected.

I wanted to use minimum components to post just to make sure that they work.  I don't think the system would be able to detect a heatsink even if there was one.  I do plan on getting a good cpu cooler though.

This isn't a bad power supply.  Since Linus primarily uses power supplies from sponsors, you probably haven't heard much about Rosewill power supplies.  It is highly rated, certified 80+ gold efficiency, and uses all Japanese capacitors.

Wtf. You need a cpu cooler. It's a i7 not a i486.

7700k doesn't come with a stock cooler. Intel presume you have a brain if you buy a 7700k :P

Rosewill is a offbrand of NewEgg - it's not a recognised nor respected PSU manufacturer

Jap capacitors nor gold cert matter if/when the platform the PSU is built on is shit

aren't you funny ...

a CPU cooler that can withstand overclocking of a K series CPU can go north of 50$ - you'd be screaming and kicking if Intel would've asked 50$ on top of the CPU

Isn't the 212 25$?

i also hope you understand it costs intel pennies to manufacture a cooler.

212EVO is not suited for anything but very mild OC

I didn't say it was. I'm just saying intel could include something to boot with, especially since their products have such premiums

I would take you a little more seriously if you would give solid reasons why this Rosewill power supply is bad.  All you have said is that it is sh!t.  I doubt you have even tried it for yourself.

Which you seem to have not taken the time to read.  At least not any that were made in the past 4 years.

I got it to post now.  It turns out, the board must be connected to the front panel power switch to post.
