CAD/3D Computer Build

Tranquill

I was just curious on some guidance for a computer build that meets a few specifications.

  • Has to utilize an AMD processor
  • 8GB of RAM at a minimum
  • Medium Tower
  • DVI, HDMI, VGA
  • SSD
  • $1000 budget

The computer will be mainly used for CAD/3D Rendering/ Laser Cutter Software/ Adobe Illustrator, etc...

I was looking at the Ryzen 7 1700, pairing with a $150 Nvidia Quadro card. Any help is appreciated!

EDIT: Could I get away with putting something like a GTX 1050 Ti in there?

For this workload, Def focus more $$ on the cpu then the GPU, which you can upgrade or obtain later anyway since CPU lifescycle is a lot longer.

So, the Ryzen 7 1700 works? And something cheap like the GTX 1050 Ti?

Get 32GB of RAM, and if you really need it, an 8 core.  An OC'd 6850K is the sweet spot, it's what I use for AutoDesk Inventor.

Gigabyte's AMD cards are very good. Go for the ASUS for just a few dollars more.

With a crippled GPU.  Also, OP specifies AMD is required

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/znkbf8 Done.  Slightly over budget but it can be done nonetheless.

You can find os for less than $30. This should be perfect for running 3D rendering and 60fps 1080p on medium settings.

Your ssd, gpu, PSU and case are potato.  You compromise everything to get a basically identical CPU.

I agree with this. The biggest flaw is that he shouldn't go with an 1800x when he can get the cheaper 1700 and overclock it to get nearly identical results.
