static or air flow fans?

i remember linus saying that static pressure are better than air flow fans, is that true?

will there be a downside if i go with static pressure fans for case ventilation? Louder?

if the front fans have filters and hdd blocking it, will the sp fans perform better?

His point was by the time you have something like a filtered intake and a drive cage like most cases do that you should be getting fans that have a good pressure rating. His opinion also is that they are more versatile and can be used anywhere and I generally agree with that.

Depends on the case, if the case has fine mesh or a good filter you are probably better off with static pressure fans.

the case that i will be using is arc mini r2 which have filters on the front and ill probably put some hd beside the front fans. So i should probably get sp fans then.

How bout for exhaust, does it matter?

What I would do is get a fan that has some static pressure and some air flow. I like Silverstone AP121/122/123 because it has decent static pressure and it has a channeling feature, really nice fans. For exhaust I would go with air flow fans.

Also unless you have a large amounts of HDD remove the top hard drive cage and you'll get even more air flow.
