Windows sort by name... what am I doing wrong?!?

Go to solution Solved by Sakkura,

Need to swap to the ISO date sequence, yyyy.mm.dd. Right now it's sorting by day first, but you want it to sort by year first.

So, I have a folder with receipts for warranty purposes.

I thought that naming this like this would sort them appropriately by "purchase date", but it does not work for some reason.

01.02.2016

04.06.2016

25.06.2016

08.01.2017

...

But instead, when I click to sort by name... I get it like this.

What am I doing wrong?!?

Looks like it's working quite fine. Goes from the lowest number to the highest (days).

You need to invert your dates if you want it to actually work out the way you want it to.
