wifi issue

i moved my pc in my room and now i get random ping spikes i think it might be due to the range on the router :

my phone will connect to the 5g network but if i stand at the other side it disconnects and connects to the 2,4ghz network. my pc stays on the 5g network all the time just these random ping spikes are highly annoying anything i can do to stop it with out getting a wifi extender

If you are separated by one or more walls, don't use 5GHz. Use 2.4GHZ, as it's a lot better with obstacle penetration.

Use the 2.4ghz network? 5ghz is unreliable at longer range I'm sure you know that already.

I don't think there is another way. Get a wifi extender or move the router closer to your PC (or vice versa)

5GHz really struggles with penetrating things like walls. Do you get the spikes with the 2.4GHz network? If not, use that for gaming as it doesn't require much bandwidth. If the bandwidth is limiting your internet speeds, switch to 5GHz when you're not gaming to get the best bandwidth where ping isn't as important.
