Yeah makes total sense. And I'm not too worried since an 1080ti is gonna pump out stupid good frames on anything you throw at it.

also: I'm open to different cases, the one I had was a placeholder basically.

Three things you should look for in a case:

  1. Aesthetics
  2. Cable management.  You want to be able to organize and hide cables as best as possible.
  3. Ports, especially USB ones.

Ultimately the "best" case is up to you.  I've got this one and I'm quite happy with it.  The cable management is phenomenal.  The only things I don't love are that I can't set anything on top of it, and the door for the 5.25" bays is kind of sticky.

Totally!  I actually only discovered the PCMR last december, don't remember that far back :D

Want to be more pissed?  All i5's are capable of hyperthreading.  The only difference between them and their i7 counterparts is that the i5's have that functionality permanently disabled.

Whelp I'm glad AMD is actually doing something in the CPU space, from a newcomers perspective (comparatively of course) I see intel owning everything because there was just absolutely no competition..  Really bad for the end consumer >:(

Totally my fault didn't clarify. All the FPS's I plan on running will be 1080p and most likely not max settings. All the triple a stuff will be 1440p with refresh rate not an enormous ordeal to me

Ya, you should be fine with the 1700 then, search benchmarks for the res/hardware you want to run

So thought it over a bit, and since my priority isn't streaming, I decided to go with the 7700k.

Just wondering if I need a better cooler to OC to the mid-high 4.0's? Also am curious if that SSD will be fine
