well im thinking motherboard then choses the CPU, as i am trying to build a mini console killer. I am thinking 4K gaming as compact as possible

Well about $500 but all i need is a motherboard, CPU and RAM. Case will be built around parts and the idea is to make it flat as possibale, the idea is to use it as a stand for a monitor

Well, there are quite a few good mini-itx motherboards for Z270.

You could get a 7700K, Asus Z270 Strix mini-ITX (i would recommend this, but you can also choose a different one) and 16GB of 3000 or 3200Mhz RAM.

Option 2:

Ryzen 7 1700, Biostar X370GTN (http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en-us/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=879)

and also 16GB RAM.

 

Both will be around 500$, it really depends on your workflow and the aesthetic.
