So my question is simple, do i need an upgrade? My PC has an:

CPU: i5 3570K

MB: Asus Maximus V Formula

GPU: Asus direct cu ii top GTX 660 ti

CPU fan: Corsair H100i

Case: Cooler master Trooper

HDD: 1TB WD green, 500gb seagate baracuda

SSD: none

RAM: 8gb kingstone (dont remember the name :) )

That's pretty much it. I was thinking upgrading to a gtx 1080 this summer so i can get those sweet FPSSSS, but my real question is the cpu.

And i will add a ssd soon. THANKS!!!

I'd say you could replace your GPU with a RX 580/GTX 1060, add a bit more ram, and get an SSD.

The SSD is my most recommended upgrade, followed by GPU and ram. An SSD will make the most difference to your PC, I recommend a 256/240gb one.

But overall you're still in pretty good shape.

As for getting a GTX1080 this summer, unless you're prepared to invest in a better monitor (1440p+ or high refresh) I'd say you won't actually see that much improvement over a midrange card. And then your CPU will be a bottleneck so you'd have to get a new mobo, CPU, RAM, etc so the costs (and deminishing returns) will start to pile up.
