so, i'll just straight forward for my system's spec

-fx 8350 (bought early 2016)

-asus croshair v formula z (bought at the same time with the cpu)

-xfx r9 390 double dissipation (bought mid 2015)

-8 gig of ddr3 ram

-seasonic 850 modular psu (plat)

i think other specs are irrelevant

so I'm thinking about upgrading this (which eventually more or less the same as to build a new one)

do you guys have any suggestion on which to upgrade first, the cpu or the gpu?

-for the cpu, I'm thinking to upgrade to new i7 7700k (which of course i have to buy a new mobo and ddr 4 rams)

-for the gpu, I'm thinking the new 1080 ti, either inno3d x4 ultra http://www.inno3d.com/products_detail.php?refid=283

or aorus https://www.aorus.com/product-detail.php?p=169&t=17&t2=&t3=

at this point I have the money for either for the cpu set (the cpu, mobo and rams) or the graphic card

both of them cost around the same in my country so money's not the problem

I will be able to buy both of them by the end of the year, what makes me unable to decide is which one should I upgrade first?, the cpu set or the gpu?

and the aim for my build is 2k gaming

if any of you guys could give me any suggestion for this i'd be really grateful

thanks in advance

Upgrade CPU first. The r9 390 still a decent GPU.

Upgrade CPU. For purely gaming go with i7 7700k, or Ryzen 1700. Ryzen should be even cheaper, and performs better in multithreading aplications. But if you are looking to push over 100fps, Ryzen won't be great idea.

Depends on games that you play and at what resolution. Not 100% sure what you mean by 2K ... FHD or QHD?

I had R9 390 and I had no problems with running it on my 1080p and 1440p monitors. But to be fair, I was only playing MMORPG at that time.

Overwatch for example, won't run on 2560x1440 at highest settings at 60fps with that GPU. That's something GTX 1070 is meant to do.

Can you provide a list of games that you are playing right now?

Overwatch is pretty great optimised game.

I see bottlenecking when FPS try to go higher than 70FPS on 1080p max settings. Hard to say what to buy first, but I think I would still go with better CPU first, since that FX 8350 just isn't good for gaming in general.
