Windows Update and HDR

I use my PC for my home theater. It's connected to Martin Logan electrostats and a 65in LG oled.

What are your opinions on watching movies and playing games with HDR on when the content is obviously not built with HDR in mind. Is it similar to upscaling where anything can take advantage of it or should I disable it when playing games like the witcher.

nothing is upscaled when you try to turn on HDR. HDR-related metadata has to exist first in order to account for HDR processing. so the content is played or rendered normally. it is possible to "stretch" SDR metadata, but that can result in image anomalies like banding, which should be avoided at all costs. this is pretty much similar to how you turn on "Vivid mode" for TVs, though this setting will make more sense if there is sufficient HDR metadata
