Hi all,

 

Just picked up and old server my work was throwing out. 

 

Now I have 8 Intel Xenon L5420 processors @ 2.5Ghz and 128 GB (4x32) of ECC DDR2.

 

The only problem is that it sounds like a jet engine when its on and I have no where to put it.

 

I was thinking of using 2 of the processors and 32 GB of the memory to make a home server.

 

The problem is the mother boards that come with it are not great, SuperMicro X7DWT which are not a normal form factor.

 

Does any one know of a good socket LGA 771 dual socket EATX motherboard that I can use.

 

I have been looking at the Intel S5000PSLSATA but I'm not sure if the "L" or Low power version of the 5420 processor is supported. 

 

The Intel website says the the E5420 is supported but it doesn't say anything about the L5420,

 

Also if any one has any ideas and suggestions what I can do with all the other hardware that would be awesome to.

I'm fairly sure the easiest solution would to use the motherboard you already have and just build a custom case for it.

Ill take some of that ddr2 ram i need it!
