It will not degrade the SSD faster, but it will use up some RAM and CPU power, mostly RAM. If you're running short on RAM, RAPID mode is not for you

Its a ram cache, which is built into the os. No reason to use the samsung one. There caching is also less safe as it can easily screw up your data if you lose power. Id stay away from it. Won't hurt the ssd.
