Depends on your system specs, and game.

 

For Win32 games;

The performance boost is not related to higher fps, it is related to fps stability, something that can fluctuate if you have background programs that does things. If you have 3000$ system, 12 core CPU monstrosity, then this feature will be useless. If you have a dual core or a old/slow Quad Core, this feature will come and help you, especially if you have background programs. If you tend to close all you programs before starting a game, beside having Windows not engage any maintenance schedule while your game, that is about all you'll get, meaning no performance increase.

 

For UWP games:

The performance boost is more significant. It brings UWP version of games to the same levels as Win32 games. Sadly there is no games that is on both platform to test and compare, but the performance boost is there. UWP made games and app, tend to run slower due to many layers before it and the hardware. These layers are anything from security to a framework to make software development easier.
