Hey, my ASUS A88XM-A motherboard with AMD's FM2+ socket and A88X chipset is having issues booting properly. Most of the time it's very quick to boot then other times it refuses to load windows 10. Anyone got a solution or any idea what's wrong with it?

I am Overclocked to 4.2 GHz but I was for weeks before this showed up.

I will try resetting the BIOS. Do you know if the room being cold at night could have an effect? Not cold enough to condense any water (like 15 degrees C).

room temperature is nothing to do with this. Yes, try reset bios, and toggle windows 8 feature in bios (I have a88x chipset msi motherboard too). What do you mean by refuses to load? Maybe it tries to boot from another boot device (such as usb stick or external hdd) so check boot order too. Do you have dual boot with Linux? if so, run update-grub

The temperature in your room should not have any effect on your PC. It sounds more like a software issue instead of hardware.

I'd suggest you to do a CMOS reset, first of all. This will kinda reset your CPU's OC to default clock. Second after that reset if your PC still messes with you, I'd suggest you reinstall windows.

Also, when was the last time you cleaned your PC?

PS: If the issue is not software related then your HDD might be faulty.

1 I run windows 10. 2. It just sits on the Motherboard manufacturer logo screen for ages. Will check boot order. No Linux

I will do the BIOS reset. To be Honest my computer probably does need a clean. I don't think it's been done since my GPU went in almost a year ago. I really hope it's not my boot drive cause SSDs are not cheap.

anything for one of few fm2+ cpu's owners like me

I think most people just don't use them cause for the same CPU performance, FX is cheaper and has more upgrade path. Athlons are really the only ones worth the money if you have a graphics card

FX, upgrade path? Man, you still in 2010? Am3+ is done. Totally done. Am4 is now the future.

I know it's done but AM4 is still expensive. Am3+ is the only option for some

True and if you're getting a discrete gpu those integrated graphics are pointless.

I don't understand why would you change from FM2+ which is a good platform and also has some good CPUs(I'm messing with a 880k with stock cooler at 4.4ghz and still got no issues) to an AM3+ which is old.

I'm not saying I would, I'm saying that more people choose AM3+ from the outset because it's cheaper and you can get better overall performance on the top chips
