Would This CPU Still Work? (Link)

Hey guys

so im looking for a Xeon lga 771 for my Asus striker 2 formula and GTX 480 sli lan party pc becaus ethe current Q6600 woul bottleneck a single gtx 480 and the high end 775 cpu's are ridiculously priced so i found 2 different x5460's. one was totally normal however the other cpu had 2 notches cut out of it to fit straight into the 775 socket without the need to cut out the socket tabs that normally stop the 771 cpu going in the 775 board. Also the CPU has had a the 2 pins that usually require a sticker to swap have been *welded*  if that makes any sense heres a link to it  and i'd just like to know if you guys think it would be fine, the ebay store has really good ratings and the cpu is said to work so im willing to give it a go as its only $20 AUD and it would mean i dont have to cut my Mobo's tabs

It's - like you said - only 20$

 

And if it ends up not working you can just return it, ebay has got your back here. I'd say just go for it. The worst thing that can happen to you, is that you'll be minorly inconvenienced because you have to go to the post office to get your money back

Yeah thats exactly right cause paypal refunds so i might as well give it a go i just thought id see what people thought

These are basically the same chip(xeon is slightly newer gen), the xeon is just clocked high. Oc your q6600. or just get something like a q9450.

um no the x5460 is way way way better and is more or less a q9550. an e5405 is closer to a Q6600 and the overclocked q6600 i had at 2.9ghz while an improvement was still bottle necking a gtx 480 hard whereas an x5460 can be ran with a gtx 770 fine when overclocked Also the q6600 doesn't have sse4 stopping it from playing games like dishonored 2. so in short no
