This is a hypothetical scenario, please don't think I am buying something like this with no experience.

I just want to start off with that I have never done anything with servers and I and just now want to start learning about them.

If I wanted to put a server with something like 8 Titan GPUs in it (see picture) how can I set it up so that I can edit 4K RED footage with Adobe Premiere and transfer it to the server and render it there? I would be able to take full advantage of those 8 GPUs but still edit with my MacBook.

It depends on what program your using

Most of the time with 3d rendering you have a manager that controlls all the nodes, then you submit your work to the manager and it hands out frames or groups of frames to each server.

These aren't used for video edititing, its mainy cpu limited, and something like a r730 would be a much better option

your editing software must be capable of sending your finished video / 3D project to the server for rendering.

not all editors can do that so you would need to check if and how the software you plan to use can take advantage of a dedicated server.

Premiere doesn't really benefit from a server. Just render it on your workstation. Also premiere doesn't need that much gpu.
