i have been looking to get a PC that will outperform an Xbox or a PS4. My plan is to use this as a family gaming machine with support for both console controllers(No mouse and keyboard) I am aware that there are plenty of console killer tutorials and guides on youtube but i wanted opinions from the PC council. So here are my questions, what are the qualities of console killer, how upgradable are console killers, how easy is it to game with a controller, and finally are they worth it. if you believe that a console killer is worth it please make a part list of about 400-600 dollars.

Thanks!!

See the list in my sig, should be around your pricepoint.

Console killers are in essence just being able to play at 1080p30fps, but I personally find that to be a terrible standard and always strive for at least 60fps, even if that means turning down the graphics settings. An RX 480 or GTX 1060 should have no problems doing this, even at higher settings.

Controllers are no issue, although Xbox will inherently work better out of the box (I personally use a PS4 with custom drivers).

I absolutely see it as worth it since I'm on my computer a lot anyways. It's much more convenient for me to just work off of one high-end PC and then have a cheaper end laptop for classes/travel. In a living room setting it's still pretty nice since the higher framerate and better graphics will obviously be a plus. You could also then use this PC for other things like YouTube or Netflix with a wireless keyboard.

Edit: if you're going to be using this purely as a living room PC make sure that you like the Steam Big Picture interface, you'll have to use that

I think the main point of a console killer is its small size, so you can move it around. For $600 it may be doable, let's see.

I would 100% agree except the psu in there is shite.

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.
