Do you guys know anyways to find out if this  is scam or not beside actually calling him to meet up??

Do a VIN check and make sure it isn't a salvaged vehicle.

First check the blue book, if they aint selling it at Blue Book then its most likely a scam. Also as others said, check the VIN make sure its a clear title and not salvage. Let me offer this to you. My 2006 Ford Focus in Fair condition is worth about $2000 itself. And this thing is like 5 years newer. I would say its a scam.
