Im currently looking for a 2x16gb DDR4 kit to get for my R7 1700 and ASUS x370-Pro motherboard. I do have the CPU and MB here, but when I tried out an older 2x8gb kit it had instability issues like crazy. Editing in Photoshop/Lightroom works great until they get a crazy number of edits/photos. And the crazy thing is it can survive a Metro Last Light Benchmark all the way through, but then right after it finishes it crashes with Memory_Management. And playing any kind of game for more than a few minutes will cause the same issue. No amount of changing the timings help either. The only thing that has helped is turning off SMT. I noticed if I do that, I can play a game like Overwatch just fine, but right after I close the game it will BSOD. And anything more intensive will still BSOD, but will last longer. Weird.

However, I fully know that I shouldnt really be running Ryzen with this memory as this DDR4 kit was one of the first to come out when Intel released their first CPU support for it. And I really want to get to the max that this board supports, 64gb. With RAM prices orbiting the moon though, I just want to get a 2x16gb kit for now. Does anyone know of a kit that for sure works on this hardware?

The gskill flare x and the corsair vengeance lpx come to mind as being ryzen certified.

Have you updated UEFI? Ryzen memory patch seeded to OEMs lately, just have a look.

Memory QVL (RAM certified from ASUS):

First thing I tried :(. Unless there was a new one released, I am currently on 515.

I was just looking at the LPX myself. Debating on what speed I should currently get.

Alot of people are having a hard time getting ram speeds above 2933 mhz. New bios codes are being released that is helping so i would go for 3000 or 3200 mhz kit myself.

Hmm, I thought that was the case. I read that Ryzen really likes to have low timings / fast memory, so I think I will get the 3200 mhz. Thanks a lot for the help!

Can confirm.

Went over to my buddies place this morning (R7 1800X with a X370 MSI Pro Carbon).

The Corsair LPX DDR4 2666 MHz he has works, but he wanted to try some higher frequency RAM.

I went over to his place with my DRR4 3000 MHz TridentZ kit.

Tried A-XMP, and even keying all the primary and secondary DRAM timings in manually.

Could not get 2933 MHz or 3000 MHz working -- even when loosing up the timings to all 15 or 16 (XMP for the TridentZ kit is 14-14-14-34).

2666 MHz on both kits was fine though...

Wait for the BIOS updates.

Timings aren't that big of an issue on Ryzen. Running a 8gbx4 kit at 3200 kHz at c19 or c14 gave me almost the exact same results in benchmarking. Also ran a 2400mhz c10 kit and the c10 vs c16 on it didn't change anything.

Interesting. Will have to continue looking into it.

Interestingly enough, 604 released yesterday has stopped the crashing. This will let me save up and get 4x16gb like I want. Thanks again!
