Quicktime is the worst piece of software in existence for screen recording. Use screenflow

I think I first used it around version 10.9 of OS X and never had an issue.

For one it records at about 15FPS and the audio always become desynced. Now it is good for screen recording but any type of gaming or high movement task is out the window

I don't remember the last time I used audio captured by QuickTime so I can't say anything about that but the framerate and overall image quality is always very good.
