Add or change RAM?

I need a RAM upgrade for my laptop. Which option is better, add a 4GB RAM with the same frequency and latency or, take out the original RAM and add a new 8GB RAM?

you "should" be ok with adding another stick.

The caveat being that they could potentially be incompatible with each other.

The safest way would be to get a new kit all together.

Since you already have a 4gb stick, just get another one. Simple

EDIT: Providing if it's the same stick it should be alright.

If the RAMs are the same specs but from different manufacturer, they may not work?
