New Rig $3,700 Budget

Definitely. I don't think he's interested on doing custom loops so I'm guessing it's either the HERO or CODE.

no its not a custom loop, just cables for the Power supply or extensions to add white accents to the build.

I doubt he'll use it for content creation. More likely gaming/streaming (MMO-RPGs) and minor school work projects.

I would go with a Ryzen build myself as you have the extra cpu cores so it will help with streaming. With a budget like this you should be able to get one of those awesome ultrawide 1440p monitors and a single GTX 1080 ti (So no SLI issues)

Something along these lines:

The Gigabyte has White accents and you should be able to disable the LED's or have them White.

The gpu is a placeholder so it would want changing to an aftermarket card to suit the colour scheme.

A single GTX 1080 ti will pair up nice with a 3440 x 1440p Monitor. No SLI headaches.

Samsung 960 EVO for main boot drive/games and a Samsung 850 EVO and HDD for other stuff.

Let say, he buys another 1080ti, wouldn't be safer to get a 1000-watt PSU now then buy a new one later? Also, did they fix the issue with Krakens X61 pump noises?

I would stick with a single gpu setup if it was Me. A single GTX 1080 ti will handle an Ultra Wide 1440p with ease.

Not sure about the pump noise issue. You can always go with a Corsair 280mm or a different AIO. The BeQuiet Silent Loop are probably the quietest water coolers.

That's what I suggested to him too. Get a single 1080ti at first and see how it fares.

It's  not just about that. There is also the fact that from a lot of videos you see that 1080ti sli is not working well at all, it's even going to hurt performance in some cases. Also the SLI  is a great assle (I'm  running 2 gtx 980 ti in sli) and you have more noise. Go for a single gtx 1080 ti and get an ultrawide monitor

I think he is going for a single 1080ti FTW3 for now and a X34 predator monitor.

you can get a 850w just to be future proof, should be plenty for 1080ti sli

you are still having more power draw and especially more heat and noise, imho is not worth the extra money, especially considering that a single gtx 1080 ti can power flawlessly an Acer predator x 34 and have averages of 90 fps while having minimums that ( almost) never dip below 60fps. When talking about sli of top of the line gpu I know what I'm talking about, as I have 2 gtx 980ti in my system and is a great hassle at times, i did it just because i want the 4k 60fps experience
