why 70% closed?,  we only recommend stereo headphones, surround sets are a  gimmick. If you only accept advice from people who have owned gear for a long period of time then you are severely limiting the advice you will get.

For closed (100%) I'd go with the Sennheiser HD280pro, good flat response, tight bass, very well isolating. only downside is the clamping force can be a bit excessive for sensitive heads.

For open headphones I have not got a pair that I can recommend, I change my mind so often it wouldn't be helpful.

70% closed, as in not like the ones that if something explodes next to u , u cant hear a thing, and as in for the use of the headphone for a long time, i am not limiting the advice but atleast use it for a month then advice the ppl, u know some ppl use it for 5 mins and will talk like he/she is the headphone maker.

I guess if you wanted you could get DT770's and DT990's. There are so many options you are limiting yourself if you don't take advice on headphones people haven't tried for a month. There are literally too many headphones, and normally we base our buying options off of online reviews, and by my ear they are usually correct.

Audio is all about preference, so even if someone loved the AKG K701 and recommended them to you because he had listened to them for years, the sound signature might not suit what you prefer.

The DTXXX range of headphones puts some emphasis on the lower end and the treble, creating a 'V-Shape' frequency response. All this means is that these are very 'fun' headphones to listen to. Now, I'v had the DT990's for 2 years now, and my opinion is identical to online reviewers.

Thanks,

Current rig: i5 2500k & Gtx 560ti With Filco MJ1 TKL & Neutron Gtx 120gb SSD

I felt sennheiser HD5xx and shure 840's were a good compliment to each other

hd5xx for gaming, shure for music

Will work for electronic components and parts
