it says its a beta BIOS so if you are fine with that then use it seeing as its the most likely to fix any problems but beta BIOS versions have usiually not been tested with all the hardware configurations supported so it could be unstabile

Hey there!

Im new to bios updates and stuff and wanted to update mine but im not really sure if im going to do it right.
msinfo32 says i have a "GA-F2A78M-HD2" motherboard from gigabyte

found this update:
http://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-F2A78M-HD2-rev-30#support-dl

here is a screenshot of the other stuff (sorry its german):
http://prntscr.com/etxe25

but still not sure if that is what i need because my bios version says "American Megatrends Inc. F3a YG1, 09.07.2014"

would be realy nice if somebody could help me out real quick! thanks in advance!

first of WHY do you want to update it? if there isnt any more reason then "because i want to" then dont seeing as it can brick your motherboard.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

thats probably because you are running a 32-bit operating system, not anything to do with the BIOS.

i posted a sceenshot, you can see there that i have a 64bit system

im pretty sure thats just your CPU being x64 based, check in about this computer where it should say "64-bit operating system, x64-based processor" or "32-bit operating system, x64-based processor".

hmm ok then, well you can try updateing the BIOS then. just download the BIOS and put it on a usb stick and boot into the BIOS. there should be a flashing utility and it will ask you to point it at the new BIOS, do that and it should update it.
