USB 3.0 at 2.0 speeds. MSI 970 Gaming Motherbaord.

Hello everyone.

I recently built a gaming rig using an MSI 970 gaming motherboard. When I first built the rig the USB 3.0 slots worked fine and were transferring the speed they are suppose to, but suddenly one day i noticed it was taking a long time to transfer files back and forth with my external hard drive (which is a Western Digital My Book which supports USB 3.0.) I even made sure i am using the USB 3.0 cord that came with it. I am a little confused trying to figure out what this could possibly be or what is causing this to happen. I have all the drivers installed so its not that either. If someone with the same problem or with a solution could reply, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

The first thing to do is clear your CMOS. Disconnect the computer, then take the big battery off your motherboard for a minute. Then put it back and boot back. A setting in your saves CMOS might have switched those USB3 to USB2 speeds.

If you connected some PCI-E add-in card, that also may have switched your USB speeds, but clear CMOS anyway.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

Hi there. Sorry it took so long to get back to you Energycore. I tired what you said and still have the same problem. Do you or anyone else have any other suggestions? If someone might know what the problem is and can reply on this post, that would be great! Thanks for your suggestion though. Might have worked for someone else.

I've contacted MSI recently and they tried to pass it off as a defective motherboard without even troubleshooting. I'm pretty stumped. Hope there are other responses. Any suggestion you think could help. Please reply back., it would be awesome!

Thanks
