Defective commodity

Could somebody tell me what this means, because I sent my pc to hp for a fan repair, and I got this Defective commodity thing.

Im talking about the whole thing defective commodity, that was on the repair details. that i got from hp

Is it a sticker? An email? A note in the package? A giraffe? Having not personally dealt with HP, I need more information here.

It 90% just means there was a broken part and they fixed it.

I don't think it means anything.  I think someone was supposed to write in what was defective, why/how it failed, and what actions were taken.  But instead they left the default text present.
