Help a streamer out plz

So basically I was wondering, how do I get amazing video quality on my streams without a second computer, and I thought for a second, Can I use a capture card? for a second I was wondering about it and said no but then asked about of my Non-techy friends and they all had mixed opinions and I got confused, I still said no, I don't want to build a new computer because I've had shit luck with every single build something goes wrong. I decided to ask this place for answers

I heard streamers do indeed use capture cards but i dont know in what way - probably to capture gameplay to release stress off of cpu

Streamers use capture cards to capture Video Feed from other systems, I think, I had a mind derp when thinking about it. I mean I can always get a cheap laptop with the Elgato HD60s or something that will be a somewhat ok solution, but sadly I don't have that kind of money, though I'd be driven by donations anyway

Pretty much from my understanding with screen recording applications like Fraps. Fraps used drop your framerate quite significantly. I don't know how it performs now, but no point with capture cards with zero performance delta. Capture cards allows them to record their faces during stream.

FRAPS is vastly different than how programs like OBS and XSplit work.

Please watch the video... Linus goes over all the current options for streaming atm and compares them.

I have already, and that video made me ask the question, I'm just wondering how I would set up a Capture card or if I can with only 1 PC, I don't feel like buying a new CPU/Motherboard RN because I just built this PC

Capture cards still require effort from the CPU to capture the video. It would only really make sense to do so if you used a second PC.

Since you have a Nvidia GPU you could just use Nvidia NVENC if you don't want to purchase more hardware. CPU x264 will provide better quality but it can use a fair amount of CPU utilization.

I've been using x264 I just want a better stream

you wont benefit from a capture card on a single pc setup. you can up the bitrate for higher quality if your upload speed is sufficient. or stream at non native resolution (like 720p60 still looks good on twitch)
