Specs:

  • ASUS X99-A
  • i7-5820k @ 3.30GHz
  • 16GB RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
  • Corsair CS550M PSU

When I boot up the computer it will turn on for 5 seconds and then shut off again, without pushing the power button this will repeat a number of times. Eventually it will sit for 5 minutes then the BIOS screen will appear, save and exit from there without changing anything and then the computer restarts and powers on as normal. It only seems to happen after it has been off for a long period time, i.e. overnight or for the whole day.

Has anyone got an idea what could be causing the problem?

Thanks.

Also try taking one of the sticks of ram out at a time (test both) faulty ram can cause a boot loop

Thanks I'll give that a try

If you still have the problem after changing the battery then it's possible it's the PSU...
